Open Ethereum (ETH) Futures Contracts
After having shaken up the financial markets by announcing the launch of a Bitcoin futures contract at the end of 2017 (BTC Futures), it is now on Ethereum that the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME Group) offers futures contracts. How to define this type of contract? Futures contracts are speculative tools, which allow you to buy or sell a share at a price and on a date set in advance. Initially, they were mainly used in agriculture, to reduce market risk.
Ethereum is one of the most popular cryptocurrencies on the market: trade futures through this digital currency. Like Bitcoin, it works thanks to the principle of blockchain. Futures contracts facilitate transactions by generally limiting risk-taking. Ether has since crossed the $2,000 mark and is up an impressive 170% since the start of 2022.
A value never reached for Bitcoin
Appearing shortly after the 2008 financial crisis, Bitcoin took a long time to gain acceptance. It has now reached a record level: it has passed the historic bar of 50,000 dollars on the financial markets. If many investors are wary of this volatile currency which is not based on any asset (unlike traditional currencies which are based on a tangible asset like gold), Bitcoin tends to impose itself. 18 million Bitcoins are circulating in the world today. First reserved for seasoned investors, it is now increasingly accessible and adopted by financial services and businesses. The proof: Tesla, the company specializing in electric cars and batteries, recently announced that it plans to invest $1.5 billion in Bitcoin.
Currencies to watch
Investor interest in cryptocurrencies continues to grow. The online payment giant Paypal has even declared that it wants to facilitate transactions (purchase, sale, etc.) of crypto-assets in the digital wallet of its customers. Mastercard also plans to accept payments in cryptocurrencies by the end of 2022. While Bitcoin and Ether have become relatively safe values, certain currencies have the merit of experiencing encouraging results.
We find among the most promising currencies:
Dash: with more than 2 billion dollars in capitalization, it is the 34th cryptocurrency in the world. Its creator was inspired by the source code of Bitcoin by bringing his own developments, with a view to improving the existing system. The key is safer, faster, and anonymous transactions.
Aave: one of the main players in decentralized finance, Aave, ranks 18th in the top 20 global cryptocurrencies. It is capitalized at $4 billion.
Cardano: With gains of 300%, the year 2022 is off to a good start for Cardano. It even crossed a historic threshold of 1.4 dollars. A currency that promises great changes!
